Damion Browne is an undercover Renegade soldier. He’s seen practically drooling over a woman in a white bikini. Lara has a gun with a silencer in her oversized bag – now why would someone in a bikini need a gun. She belonged to Project Serenity and received some very specialized training. Her job as a soldier is to protect the innocent. But she also wants retribution for those GTECHs that supposedly killed her family.
Then Damion and Lara meet while she’s trying to do her job. Sabrina is the head of Serenity and very power hungry. But Lara doesn’t do anything according to plan. She and Damion also share an instant attraction that neither is aware of. There is some language that is explicit in regards to the sexual scenes. It should be expected but it’s not done to be offensive.
Damion, Michael, and Caleb are making assumptions of female GTECHs and it will be interesting to see if they are correct in those assumptions. The action started right away – it certainly kept my attention. I’m also not finding the storyline confusing as I did in Sterling’s book.
You don’t need to read book one and two of the “Zodius” series to understand what is going on. But if you want to know more about the characters you are reading about, you may want to go back and read “The Legend of Michael” and “The Storm That Is Sterling” . I found I enjoyed this book the best out of the three. It seems like Lisa is now more comfortable with her GTEC characters.
We get to see more of the personal side to the Renegade characters and that includes their wives. We don’t get too much information about the evil characters but then they aren’t the heroes of the piece. Lisa even makes a reference to “Star Wars” – you will recognize it when you read it. And I’m not going to tell you where to find it. I don’t want you to miss out on any of the story trying to find it.
If you’ve never read this series before, and you’ve purchased the e-book copy, some of the terms may be confusing but the Glossary can be located at the end. If you have the paperback, this would work out fine for you because you can flip to the end whenever you want to find out what Lisa was referring to. With the e-book it may have been better to put the Glossary at the beginning so that you would know these terms when you saw them. That was really my only complaint.
It will be interesting to see if Lisa gives us a book four. She’s on a great roll and I want to see what the Renegades have in store for us next. There are several characters that still need their story told – and that even includes our evil characters. We always love it when good overcomes evil.
