Consent to Love by Abby Wood

Book 2 in her “Western” Series
ISBN: 9781426893551
306 KB/114 pages
Rating: 4 ½ stars

Ana Reynold’s seen drooling over a very handsome man. He’s certainly left quite an impression. His name is Howahkan – Kane. He lives on the reservation. He seems to be flirting with Ana. We find out that he’s older than her and he speaks his mind. The attraction is instantaneous and very mutual.

Kane takes her out to the reservation and the pages start to burn from the heat. Even though this is a contemporary love story, I could picture Ana and Kane in the Old West. The perfect actor to play Kane would be Clint Walker – perfect height and that sexy voice. He was an actor that was around as I was growing up. Who would you pick to play Kane? Who would be his Ana?

Kane also knows how to treat a woman – the pleasure comes through the pages. Abby’s story shows that certain prejudices still exist today. As for the sex, they’re a very adventurous couple – willing to try anything, anywhere. This is what makes our story erotic. I have not read Abby’s first western “Consent to the Cowboy”. But after reading “Consent to Love”, I will have to see what type of fun she gave Daphne Norris. Daphne happens to work with Ana.

If you haven’t read “Consent to the Cowboy” after reading this current book you will also want to go back and read the first book. Abby has a way at making a western a hot read. It makes me wish that I had played cowboys and Indians more when I was growing up. Thank you Abby, for introducing me to Kane and Ana. And also reminding me of how much I loved to watch “Cheyenne” growing up.

Inappropriate Thoughts by Ian Dalton

Book 1 in the “Victoria Wilde” Series
430 KB/231 pages
Rating: 4 stars

Jillian Grayson is seen in bed with her laptop. She’s an author who’s trying to write a story. Like a lot of authors, she has a pen name. She also has a son that is currently away at college.

Victoria Wilde is a friend of Jillian’s. Jillian is having a problem with writer’s block and calls Victoria for some help. My impression of Victoria is one wild cougar. I will say that I thought I would see more of her in this book since it is her series.

Robert Grayson is having a Super Bowl party in his college dorm. Rob’s friend, and roommate, Brian is intrigued by one of the young women, Natalie, at the party. He hasn’t known her very long but feels that she could be the one. Now do you remember your college days? How many of the college hook-ups lasted?

Jillian goes out on a date that can we say was interesting. It makes you wonder where this guy came from. She then goes on another date and he’s not too far behind from the previous date. We have to wonder if her date “picker” is off. Will she every find someone to share her life with? Well, you’ll just have to read the story to find out.

Brian’s relationship with Natalie is sweet. But it leaves us wanting to know if they will be taking the next step in this relationship. But then Spring Break comes up. And things always seem to change on Spring Break.

Rob has invited Brian to come home with him during Spring Break. It’s a most interesting time. One I never saw coming but probably should have given the title of this story. As Brian meets Victoria, you have to laugh at his impression. And then he meets Jillian.

Ian has definitely given us a “cougar” story. I do think, however, that not just women are going to want to read this story. First impression I got was this was a college guy’s wet dream come to life. Of course, they wouldn’t admit that they even read a story like this. Ian gives us more of an erotic tale than one of romance. Women, it may even give you some ideas if you are an older single woman who doesn’t look half bad.

As I read the story, I even forgot that this was written by a man. There have been some books that I have tried to read that were written by men and they just didn’t hold my attention. Ian made me want to break out the fan so that I could cool down from getting so hot. Would I read more of his work? Yes I would. But now it’s up to you to decide if you feel the same way.

Kiss of Pride by Sandra Hill

Publisher: Avon
Release Date: April 24, 2012 (paperback/e-book)
Pages: 384 pages (paperback)/910KB (e-book)
ISBN: 9780062064615 (paperback)
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Rating: 4 ½ stars

Book 1 of the “Dark Angels” series.

Sandra Hill has come up with an interesting concept for her main male character. She has created a new species – Vangels. I have not read about this type of character in any other paranormal romance book.

Would you believe that the internet helps the Vangel’s cause? Makes you wonder what else you can find out on the internet. What would you do if you were immortal? Would you stick to the old ways or would you embrace anything new?

Vikar Sigurdsson is in Transylvania Pennsylvania. He and his brothers all committed a deadly sin. Vikar’s sin was Pride. As you read, you will see why that is. St. Michael, Mike to his “friends”, oversees them all. Vikar is in the process of renovating a castle for his group. They will also be having a big get together where Mike will oversee the proceedings.

Alexandra Kelly works for a magazine whose headquarters are in D.C. We see that she has suffered some kind of personal tragedy. Her boss sends her to Transylvania to check out the town and come up with a story. Alex is staying at the Bed & Blood, a B & B. Her first meeting with Vikar was very interesting.

I loved Sandra’s description of what Vikar looks like at their first meeting. She also made him to be a very honest man – he tells Alex exactly what he is. Within the story, there are references to “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” If you have not seen the movie, you may want to after you finish reading this book.

I admire Sandra for mixing current, medieval, and Amish wording into the conversations. I don’t know that I would be able to keep everything straight. It takes a very creative person to do something like that. And that’s why she’s the author and I’m the fan.

Vikar takes Alex on the tour of the castle – I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall. I can just imagine her expressions as she is shown around. It’s also funny to see one of my ancestors in the story.

The physical attraction between Vikar and Alex starts to heat up and then her brain starts to function. And we know what happens when the woman starts to think. On top of that, her job gets in the way. Sandra gives them a very erotic moment. One moment you’re starting to really get into the scene and then she has you laughing. It’s a scene that also may give you some ideas.

The story builds to this point and then it turns serious – the job the Vangels have been working toward. The storyline isn’t so complicated that you won’t have any trouble following the plots. Sandra has brought a new spin to the story of good vs evil. You want to make sure to read all the way to the end because she put something in that caught me completely by surprise.

If you are a fan of this book, you will want to make sure to keep an eye out for book 2 of the “Deadly Angels” series. The book is titled “Kiss of Surrender” and it will be coming out in September. There is no hint, at this time, about what book 2 is about but if you are truly a fan of Sandra’s work you will stop by her website, http://www.sandrahill.net/, and watch for any updates.

Lynn Reynolds – Author

How cool is that? I decided to do a google search of my name to see what I would find. I found that there is an author, who happens to spell her name the same way, with the same name as mine. She also happens to have a Word Press blog. If you have a chance, check her out at http://lynnreynolds.wordpress.com/ If you also stop over to Amazon, today she has a free copy of her book “Love Capri Style” that you can grab. It’s a romance which is another thing we have in common. I couldn’t resist signing up for her newsletter.

So here is a challenge for you: Find someone with your name and see if they have similar interests. You may be surprised – just like I was.
