Christmas Spirit Warms the Heart by Victoria Blisse

Jodi works at a toll booth.  She thinks of herself as “a weird loner”.  Books are her friends – for a reader of romance that can’t be all bad.  She’s willing to help out anyone that needs it.

One of those people that she helps is a really hot guy.  His name is Mike and he gives Jodi some nice fantasies.  Mike works for the children’s hospice.  As we read, we find that they have books in common.  Then they talk about Christmas.

Do they have a connection that they are going to take advantage of?  You will just have to keep reading to find out.  There’s another reason to keep reading – Mike has a secret.  What can that be?

For those readers that still have the Christmas spirit, this book will be for you.  Victoria also makes us laugh – when Mike and Jodi get caught in a snuggle.  I also love how they celebrate Christmas – I’m not telling so you’ll just have to read the story.  It’s not like any holiday story I’ve ever read before.

I’m glad to see that Victoria has another winner with this story.  This is a story that you will want to read every year at Christmas time.  A very sensual read for a cold day.

This holiday story gets 5 stars.

Lady Northam’s Wicked Surrender by Vivienne Westlake

This is book 1 in the “Rekindled Passions” series.

Rowena Sharpe and Delphine are sisters.  Lord Simon Rutherford is brother to their friend Alice.  He’s also the man that jilted Rowena.

Rowena’s trying to sleep and has a late night visit – and it’s not her sister.  Or is it all a dream?  Simon has missed Rowena but blames their distance on his old friend, Paul.

Vivienne is like an artist.  She’s painting us a picture of what our characters look like.  She does the same thing with their location.  These “pictures” are what help us to visualize what is going on and is why we keep turning the page.

Vivienne also puts a little mystery in the mix – why did Rowena choose Paul over Simon.  In order to solve the mystery, you need to keep on reading.  And like all good mysteries, nothing is as it seems.  Will Simon and Rowena let go of the past and finally be where they should be.

I was left wanting more.  Did Simon and Rowena get married?  What became of Delphine?  What about the sister’s brother Victor?  We can hope that at some point some of our questions will get answered.  Look for book 2 of the “Rekindled Passions” series to come out in January.

I give “…Wicked Surrender” 4 1/2 stars.

A Kiss for Luck by Kele Moon

Dr. Clara Evans is trying to get through a divorce and her best friend, Jackson Philips, is allowing her to stay with him for a while.  Clara is an emergency room doctor and Jackson is a paramedic.  They have known each other since high school.  Her soon to be ex, Frank, is a real jerk and Clara deserves better.

Clara is trying to survive New Year’s Eve quietly when Jackson walks through the door.  She takes matters into her own hands and gives him a midnight kiss.  He reciprocates by giving pleasure she has never felt before – she’s never felt better.

Even as Jackson and Clara make love, he pays her compliments.  How many of you would appreciate that?  Jackson also takes care of her.  He is definitely a “friend with benefits”.  I wouldn’t mind him as my friend!  They’re very comfortable about their sexuality and themselves.  They know what they want and are willing to give what the other needs.

If this story was a paper edition, the pages would be scorched.  If you’re looking for a quick read, this is definitely one I would recommend reading.  Kele grabs the reading right from the beginning.  This is one of those short stories that you don’t mind reading over and over again.  I would also check out any other books that Kele has written.  This story would definitely make a great Lifetime movie – although the censors would have to get involved and that wouldn’t be a good thing.  One can always hope though.

I give “A Kiss of Luck” 4 ½ stars (or flames).
